    Position Overview

     

    The Director, Product Management will oversee and manage all IT projects across multiple business lines. This includes project governance, product roadmaps and technology financials management.

     

    This person works closely with business and technology stakeholders from all levels of the organization to ensure that the requested work is assessed and prioritized with the appropriate stakeholders, and that approved projects are delivered efficiently, on time, within budget, with high quality and without causing disruption to any of the lines of business.  This position is the central point expected to identify and manage roadmap interdependencies as well as project portfolio risks and issues.

     

    This person is responsible for the continuous improvement of project delivery practices, tools and results.  As such, this position requires a solid understanding of best-practice project management and project delivery methodologies, and a demonstrated ability to manage people and projects.

     

    This position also leads and performs technology financial planning, budgeting and reporting activities in collaboration with key financial and technology constituents, including capital and operational expenses, striving for the most optimal portfolio investment possible, and providing technology leadership with ‘early warning’ and opportunity analysis.

    Qualifications

    Experience and Education Requirements

    • 4-year college degree or equivalent required
    • 5+ years of experience in full software development lifecycle projects (requirements definition, design, implementation, test, deployment and support), of which at least 2 years must be from using a project methodology.
    • 5+ years of functional IT management
    • 5+ years of experience in process development or re-engineering
    • Demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires quick turnaround, collaboration, strong relationship building and quality output.
    • Solid knowledge of product management tools, Agile principals and SCRUM. Azure DevOps and Jira experience is a plus.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate customer service processes and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
    • Excellent analytical skills, ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, work well in a demanding dynamic environment and meet or exceed objectives. 
    • High level of personal integrity, the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity
    • High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision

    Essential Functions

    • Define product features and acceptance criteria as well as prioritization of product development backlog.
    • Run sprint planning, review and retrospective meetings with development team and stakeholders.
    • Ensure development team always has well defined and accurately prioritized user stories.
    • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and development teams to ensure product requirements are accurately translated into technical requirements.
    • Build and maintain close relationships with technology and business leadership in order to understand the direction of our roadmaps, priorities, how it will impact the business groups and users/customers, interdependencies, and potential barriers to successful delivery and adoption. 
    • Direct all IT projects to ensure timely delivery of projects within budget, provide team and executive visibility into status, risks and issues.  Document and remove any impediments to product development. Lead program status and project interdependency meetings and coordinates across departments and lines of business to course correct projects and programs.
    • Facilitate annual and on-going prioritization of technology roadmaps and funding with the goal of maximizing the value delivered to customers.  Partner with business and technology leaders, and other key stakeholders to ensure sound prioritization practices and funding approval controls.
    • Responsible for management of the IT budget and partners with the Finance and Accounting department and technology leaders to ensure accurate and timely reporting and forecasts.
    • Oversee sound use of tools and oversees integration or implementation of project management tools as appropriate.  Work across the enterprise to ensure common tools where relevant.
    • Act as a change agent for process improvements and provides mechanisms that will allow and incent individuals to focus on continuous improvements.  Evangelize the delivery methodology as an integral part of project delivery, and guide project managers, technology teams, and stakeholders on best practices.
    • Market the value of technology and communicates how to interact with IT; provide continual training as needed.  Ensure consensus and buy-in from key stakeholders around procedures.
    • Collaborate with key technology stakeholders on project manager performance, appropriate staffing and future resource needs.  Advocate and exhibit ‘servant leadership’ to foster team buy-in.  Provide ongoing leadership, direction, mentoring and constructive feedback to team members, facilitates training and nurtures ongoing professional development to project managers and scrum masters.
