Overview

POSITION OVERVIEW

Director, Associate Relations (AR) leads MasterCorp’s efforts in building strong relationships with all Associates, while ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Master’s Degree in a field directly related to this position or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a senior AR role, with some experience in union environments preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting and managing thorough investigations.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals at all levels, including union representatives and leadership.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on finding practical solutions.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing, collaborative AR team of professionals committed to upholding MasterCorp’s values and ethical practices.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and trust within the AR department.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and key resource to clients and lines of business within Mastercorp, offering expert counsel on a wide range of AR matters, including but not limited to, policy development and implementation, conflict resolution and dispute management, performance management and disciplinary procedures, and union contract interpretation and administration.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to proactively identify and address potential associate relations issues.
  • Play a crucial role in shaping the associate experience by influencing policy development, training initiatives, and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Advocate for fair and equitable treatment for all associates
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives that foster positive associate relations and engagement.
  • Conduct complex, high-level investigations on sensitive issues, including but not limited to those related to potential workplace misconduct, discrimination and harassment claims grievances filed by union members.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted thoroughly, confidentially, and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Analyze AR data and metrics, including grievance trends and root causes of employee concerns, to identify areas for improvement and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Track compliance with union agreements and labor laws.
  • Develop and implement data-driven solutions to enhance the effectiveness of AR programs.
  • Stay current on evolving labor laws and regulations, including those pertaining to unionized workforces.
  • Work with our internal and external employment counsel on or third party claims, litigation, or union related matters.
