  • Overview

    The Vice President of Learning and Development is responsible for the direction, development and execution of the company's learning and development strategy.  This is a highly visible role that partners with the SVP of Human Resources, the leadership team, the talent team, and employees to ensure our learning and development strategy is competitive in the market and aligns with the business goals. 

     

    This position reports to the SVP, Human Resources and oversees a learning and development team of 16 professionals that support approximately 6,000 employees across 22 states and 100 locations. 

    Qualifications

    • Must have minimum 8-10 years management experience in a large multi-site hospitality company
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR or related field; Masters preferred.
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills. 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including good grammar and writing skills. 
    • Experience designing, developing and supporting organization-wide learning and development programs with best practices in organizational development. 
    • Significant experience leading and developing professionals in a combination of General HR, Strategy Development, Organization Design, Leadership Development, Workforce Planning, Workforce Research, Change Management or related disciplines.
    • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office).  
    • Strong business and HR acumen, including problem solving, and critical thinking.
    • Fiscal responsibility and experience managing a budget.
    • Communication-ability to adapt communication style to various levels within the corporate office and the field.  
    • Build partnerships—identify opportunities and take action to work collaboratively and build key partnerships with functional leaders throughout the organization. 
    • Detail and results oriented—able to lead self and others through completion of multiple projects. 
    • Strong influencing skills—must be able to lead people to good decisions. 
    • Adaptability—able to respond when business needs or priorities change. 
    • Develop others - Ability to coach and mentor others on how to design effective learning solutions that maximize employee development and achieve desired outcomes.

    • Lead Talent Development team, working cross functionally to insure all stakeholders are aligned and objectives are clearly identified. Through a team effort, oversee the development of training programs to hit objectives. 
    • Provide professional expertise and support in the design, development and implementation of talent and leadership development programs and initiatives with multiple work streams. 
    • Work with Brand Leaders to understand business goals and deploys resources and tactics to meet the goals.
    • Oversee management development practice to create developmental path and learning activities to support internal growth of high potential managers and key contributors.
    • Lead activities to assess & diagnose organizational issues, ensure alignment of business goals with organizational designs, removing barriers or solving problems that interfere with goal achievement. 
    • Adopt leading-edge practices to continuously develop and enhance individual and team effectiveness while developing a knowledge management repository of tools, templates, and techniques.  
    • Develops or recommends solutions for areas of high business impact (i.e. functional design, roles & responsibilities, leadership alignment). 
    • Analyze effectiveness of programs (i.e., succession planning, performance management, development, miscellaneous training) to ensure continuous improvement in all aspects of delivery. 
    • Develop and deliver effective change management tactics to gain maximum benefit of process changes and initiatives. 
    • Use data and business knowledge to identify trends and diagnose organizational issues. 
    • Develop and enhance team effectiveness to produce quality results within challenging timeframes and ongoing change. 
    • Leverage best practices and incorporate them into company-wide standards.
